Fairy tale ending

TY is officially over. I've been on my holidays for a week or two now and i've really had time to reflect over the past year. Although there were times that I didn't like it I definitely enjoyed it as a whole and I am happy that I did it.

On our last Wednesday we went to Xtreme.ie and it was so much fun! We jumped off platforms did high wire courses and did archery and ziplining. I love all that adventure stuff so I was definitely in my element. Afterwords we went to Liffey Valley for lunch.

On Monday 25th we had TY night, our TY graduation. We spent ages practicing our song and dance and we got to preform them to our parents. I also finally got my Gaisce medal :) Eve (my friend who I did the cake decorating course with) and I made a three tiered cake for the graduation. A layer for each princess, Aurora, Ariel and Belle. We spent so long on it and I was delighted with how it came out. After the graduation a few of us went off to McDonalds in Maynooth were we had great craic.

On the Tuesday we went to base down the road and did bowling and had lunch and we finally got the eat the cake!

Ty is done and now I've the summer to relax before 5th year :/ Overall I'm glad I did the year, I learnt so much about myself and I gained loads of confidence.

Thanks for reading, and following me along my fairy tale year,

The Dentist

Last Wednesday we went on a retreat to Maynooth University. We've been on retreats before but they have all been the same and I never really got much out of them. This one was completely different and I really enjoyed it. When we first went in we played these two crazy games and they were so much fun! One of the games was about a dentist and you had to link arms with the people beside you and not let go! Basically we are the most violent and competitive people ever! Then to the main part of the retreat we were split into groups and we had to discuss different things and come up wit an answer to the questions we were given. Then as a year we discussed them, I really enjoyed this because they were sort of morality topics and not religious. I really liked the retreat.

On Wednesday night, myself and my friend went to Vicar street to see an American Youtuber called Tyler Oakley. The show was really good and very funny and we were sitting right at the front. It was such a good night!

On Thursday  I  attended the school's awards night. I was nominated for the Feile award which is for generosity of spirit. I was nominated along with Emily Thomas, and my good friend, Eve McMahon won. I was really happy for Eve, she definitely deserved it!

Also on Saturday I went to my cousins communion. I had a great day with all my family. I also made him his communion cake :)

Business Women

A couple of weeks ago we finally finished minicompany, we sold them all and split the money. Although it had been a good experience I was glad it was over. But then at the start of the week our minicompany told  us that on Friday (8th) there was going to be a Bank of Ireland Business expo on in the Celbridge Manor and we had been asked to attend and represent the school. I was delighted to have been asked as this was a professional thing with real businesses.

So yesterday ourselves and iProtect set down to the hotel with posters and display stands galore. When we got there we set up and had a wander around the other stands. We even got freebies like pens and bath bombs and stuff! Can't say no to a freebie :) Then there was panels and speakers such as Patrick Guiness, ancestor of Arthur Guiness, the managing director of Colourtrend and former dragon Norah Casey!! Norah Casey was so lovely, her talk was really good and she came over to us and was really interested in us and encouraged us, as girls, to continue being entrepreneurs. She took a picture with us and ended up tweeting us!

To make things even better us and iProtect won a Ipad mini!

Overall it was such a cool day. It was very professional and people were genuinely interested in our product and business rather than the fact it was a school project.

By 7 o'clock when it finally ended we were starving so we headed down to Apache pizza for a feast :)

Its weird to think that we got to do all these crazy things from one of our subjects in school.

Smile

Over the past few weeks we have been doing hip pop in PE. We are doing a dance to Ariana Grande and Beyonce and we will perform this dance at the TY night at the end of May.

On Wednesday we did the Ian Daly Swim a Mile in the National Aquatic Centre. A mile was 64 lengths of the pool and I was in a group with two of my friends and I did 22 lengths :) It was great fun and afterwards we went to Blanchardstown and we had Chinese for lunch :)

Gaisce

Last Friday (24th April) some of the TYs set off to Kippure in Wicklow for our Gaisce hike. When we arrived we were split into our houses, I was in a house of 9. The houses were so cool! the living room and kitchen were upstairs and then the bedrooms were downstairs.

At about 4 we started a FIVE HOUR, FIFTEEN KM HIKE. Uphill was very very hard but the rest was fine. The weather was lovely and we had great views of all the mountains and fields. We were going up one mountain and you think you're at the top but when you make it to the top, surprise! it wasn't the top. This went on for about an hour :'( When we EVENTUALLY made it to the top of the mountain there was a Mesolithic tomb. Then he pointed to another mountain and said that there was another tomb on top of it and we had to climb that one too! Coming down the mountain was hilarious, we all kept falling and falling into holes :D

When we got back to the houses it was about 9 and we had to make dinner! We had a dodgy gas cooker so we had pasta bake, burnt pizza and chips. We had two types of chips 1) burnt 2) raw !!

Saturday morning we went out to do the high ropes! Although it was raining I did abseiling, rock climbing, the leap of faith and a vertical obstacle course, it was so fun! By the time we were done we were freezing and soaked.

Then it was time for more hiking ;/ We got a short bus ride up the mountain and it was a bit scary because we got stuck on a hill with another car because the road was so narrow and we nearly hit a sheep #classic
As soon as we got out of the bus it started sleeting :'( and it never stopped. It snowed/sleeted for FOUR AND A HALF HOURS WHILE WE CLIMBED MOUNTAINS. In case you haven't got the jist yet, I wasn't impressed. Climbing this mountain was horrific, It was all bog and snow and it was cold and wet and awful :( That's really all I can say, it was awful and I cried on a mountain, fun.

We all came back in our pj's because we had no more dry clothes. I had a bath to get some feeling back and went to bed cause I was knackered...

Overall it was actually great craic but it was definitely harder than I thought i was going to be.

Pros of cons

Cake decorating week 8:

This week we did baby booties and converse. I made a pink converse, using paper templates. You just cut around each template and glued it together. I was really happy with how it turned out and I loved all the little details like the stitching and star :)

This was the last week and I have to say I really really enjoyed it. This week we actually got to decorate a real cake! I decided to just do a simple flower design and I was really happy how it came out :) Also we learned how to split and fill our cake :)

It tasted delicious!

Drifting through Donegal

This time last week my parents and I went on a little road trip to Donegal to visit my sister who was in Gweedore.

On Saturday we drove up and went to see some cliffs but it was too misty so you couldn't even see anything! On Sunday we collected my sister and drove to Letterkenny and had a nice Easter dinner :) Then we dropped her home which took a while because she couldn't remember where her house was... after she had lived there for a whole week...she's actually hilarious! Then the next day on the way home we stopped in a coal mine and it was really cool, we had to put on hard hats and we went all around it and it was freezing but interesting :)

The weekend was really good and the weather was amazing! In 3 days I was in 2 countries and 10 counties!

Sadly I didn't get any photos of the many MANY mountains and lakes I saw cause my camera is broken </3

Brush Embroidery

Cake Decorating Week 7:

This week we did brush embroidery. To do this we were given a square board covered in sugar paste and a flower pattern on paper. We had to pin the paper onto the board and then with a cocktail stick we had to trace along the pattern. Then with out icing bag we had to ice along the dots and with a damp brush push and drag the icing around. It was quite fiddly and difficult but after a while I sorta got the hang of it.

It did say my name but the A fell off :(
